National Activities (Builder)
| Mid-1970's | Mr. Burt was instrumental in seeing to it that the NLAA affiliated with the newly-formed Canadian Aikido Federation, main headquarters, Toronto, Ontario. |
| However, through his guidance, he insured that the NLAA would not be swamped by a much larger national body when political, organizational and structural decisions were being made that would affect the NLAA. | |
| Through his encouragement, we joined the CAF with a strong voice and maintain that position to this day. Under his supervision, communications were carried out, affiliation took place, yet to this day we have maintained a reputation and respect for our strong and independant position. Mr. Burt was very much aware of our relative smallness in numbers vis-a-vis other Canadian and American establishments. | |
| Mid-1970's | Mr. Burt introduced NLAA members to some of the prominant Canadian aikidoists such as Bruce Stiles of Toronto Aikikai; Osamu Obata of the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre, Don Mills; and Massimo N. di Villadorata, Aikikai de Montreal. These instructors among a host of others have been visiting Nfld. since affiliation with the Canadian Aikido Federation. |
| Ca. 1977-1978 | Prior to his death in 1979, Mr. Burt was exploring the possibility of hosting an Eastern Canadian Aikido Summer Camp Conference in Newfoundland. The only Aikido Summer Camps available to NLAA members were in Boston and New York. |
