NLJA News December 5th, 2004

We have 2 major judo activities taking place in St. John's in December. On Friday Dec. 17, Andrzej Sadej, 6th Dan and Director General of Judo Canada will be giving a series of workshops on competitive judo in the MUN dojo. Times will be 10-12 AM, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. These sessions are open to anyone interested in competitive judo but must be yellow belt or higher and age 13 years or older. The cost for the entire day will be $10. Please send me the names of anyone planning to attend the workshops and which sessions they plan to attend.

On Saturday Dec. 18 we are holding the 2005 Judo Test Tournament in the Field House at Memorial. This is a training and preparation event for the 2005 Canadian Senior Judo Championships in May 2005. The morning will be taken up with setting up the facility in the Field House and orientation/training for volunteers. The judo tournament will start at 1 PM. All volunteers are asked to be at the Field House at 9 AM on Saturday, Dec. 18. The tournament registration will take place in the foyer of the MUN Physical Education building on Friday evening, 6-7 PM. Cost is $15. No weigh-in is required for this tournament but coaches need to be accurate with weight, year of birth and judo rank when submitting club competitor lists.

The technical package for Dec. 18 is attached in RTF format. The tournament is a regional one for the St. John's area but any NLJA member is welcome to participate. If you have any questions about the tournament or the clinic do contact me.

Cheers

George
