NLJA Provincial  News 2006-2007

NLJA News November 12, 2006

The Tillie Alexander Memorial Tournament was held on the weekend of November 11th in Stephenville Crossing.  This was the first Provincial Tournament hosted by the Eagle Point Judo Club and by all reports was a resounding success. All clubs from across the province were represented including our newest club, Unity Judo Club from La Scie, who were represented by two competitors, Sensei Mike Cottrill included. Thanks again to Tony and Paula Corbin and their volunteer team of the Eagle Point Judo Club for hosting the event.

Included in the tournament were the fight-offs for the final slots on the CWG team.  It is unfortunate that everyone could not make the team. The fight-offs were a display of excellent judo and judo sportsmanship and either of the competitors would represent us well at the Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse in February. Congratulations to all and we wish the team well at the Canada Winter Games.
