The NLJA was proud to sponsor our first ever JUDO ON THE ROCK Summer Training Camp, August 20-24, 2014 in St. John's. Over 45 participants enjoyed the camp and our great guest instructors: Amy Cotton, Fred Blaney, Ron and Tracy Angus!

PictureNLJA Spring 2014 Tournament, Stephenville Crossing, NL







Congratulations to the Eagle Point Judo Club for hosting the Spring 2014 NLJA Provincial Judo Tournament in Stephenville Crossing.  Over 65 judoka participated in the tournament.  Nicholas Beaufield from Sosei Judo Club was the first winner of the new Hanna Family Foundation Trophy for the fastest Ippon win!  Chandler Smith from Sosei Judo Club was the winner of the Allister Fowler Memorial Trophy as the Most Spirited Judoka at the tournament.  Sosei Judo Club won the Bristol Cup as the club with the most success in competition at the Fall and Spring Judo Tournaments!

Congratulations to all of the athletes and coaches who participated in the Atlantic Judo Championship in Halifax, March 14-16.  There were very positive reports of all of our athletes performance including those who didn’t place in their categories but fought well.

  • Congratulations to Kevin Kelly and George Beckett on their recent promotion to first degree black belt (Shodan - Kevin) and third degree black belt (Sandan - George).  Both are members of the MUN Judo Club.
  • Congratulations to all participants, officials and volunteers who made the Nov. 8-10 NLJA Fall Provincial tournament and clinic a great success!  Over 80 athletes from across the province participated in the tournament and High Performance Coordinator Tracy Angus led a great clinic.  Amelia Quinton from MUN Judo Club was the winner of the Sensei Graham Burt Memorial Trophy as Most Spirited Judoka of the tournament!
